A true facelift or rhytidectomy is a surgical procedure that uses incisions to lift and tighten the skin and underlying structures. However, you may see other non-surgical options referred to as “scarless facelifts.” The truth is that all surgical procedures will leave at least one scar, and no non-surgical treatment will provide surgical results. 

This myth has been encouraged by procedures such as a “liquid facelift” using dermal fillers and other injectable treatments. This procedure does not provide any actual lift or tightening. Others advertise scarless facelifts when they actually mean a facelift with a well-hidden scar. 

How Does a TLC Lift Work?

How well your surgeon can hide your rhytidectomy scars depends on their technique and the severity of the issues they correct. Dr. Lanfranchi’s TLC Lift™ combines a lower face and neck lift to tighten loose skin and restore a more youthful look. 

Since each TLC Lift™ is customized, Dr. Lanfranchi can choose strategically placed incisions that hide scars as effectively as possible. Incisions are typically made around the ears and in the hairline. You will also receive detailed instructions on how to care for your incisions so your scars fade quickly and become hard to notice. 

Am I a Good Candidate for a Facelift (Rhytidectomy)?

A consultation with Dr. Lanfranchi will help determine whether a facelift is the best option for your goals. Good candidates for the TLC Lift™ have concerns about their lower face, jawline, and neck and want to achieve a tighter, more sculpted look. 

Individuals with fewer or less severe signs of aging may be good candidates for a mini facelift. This procedure uses even smaller incisions than a TLC Lift™, but it still cannot be called “scarless.” Incisions are necessary to achieve the desired lift and sculpting. 

Are There Non-Surgical Alternatives to a Facelift?

Many non-surgical options are advertised as “facelifts,” but they will not achieve the same results. However, individuals who are not ready for a surgical procedure have options. A fractional CO2 laser can trigger collagen production, leading to tighter, more even skin. Dr. Lanfranchi will discuss the benefits of each option and help you choose one.
