What’s the Ideal Age for a Facelift?
December 10, 2024
Guessing a person’s age can be a challenge. Some people look much younger or older than they actually are because we all age differently. If you feel like sagging skin, wrinkles, and other signs of aging have made you look older than you want to, a facelift can restore your firmer, smoother appearance.

What is a Facelift (Rhytidectomy)?
Rhytidectomy, more often known as a facelift, is performed to correct moderate to significant signs of aging. Dr. Lanfranchi performs the TLC Lift™, a combination of a lower facelift and neck lift, to address not only the facial features but also the neck and jawline. He uses advanced techniques to minimize incisions and recovery time.
What’s the Ideal Age for a Facelift?
When many people picture someone having a facelift, they imagine a person with deep wrinkles and drooping jowls. However, each person ages at a different rate and feels differently about their appearance as they age. The typical age for someone seeking a facelift ranges from their 40s to their 60s. However, there is no upper limit as long as you are in good health.
Several factors can affect the right age for you to consider a facelift:
- The severity of your sagging skin and other concerns
- How much your signs of aging bother you
- How prepared you feel for a surgical procedure
- Whether you have any current health problems or may develop them
- Weight loss / Weight gain
Facelifts are not typically performed on younger individuals with mild to moderate signs of aging. Having a facelift too young could lead to needing another procedure as you age. However, each person has unique needs.
If you want to reverse early signs of aging and delay the need for a facelift, Dr. Lanfranchi may recommend a mini facelift. This procedure aims to address signs of aging while they are still mild, helping you keep your youthful look for much longer.
Facelift Consultations Available
How is a Facelift Performed?
In order to avoid the risks associated with general anesthesia, Dr. Lanfranchi performs the TLC Lift™ using local anesthetic and oral sedation. You will relax comfortably during your procedure, which often takes two hours or less. Incisions are hidden within the hairline and around the ears. Dr. Lanfranchi lifts and tightens your facial and neck skin for a more sculpted lower face and neckline.
Can I Have Other Procedures With a Facelift?
People often combine other procedures with a facelift. One of the most popular options for improving the appearance of your lower face and neck is chin augmentation. A more defined chin can make your neck look slimmer and give your features more balance. You can also choose to combine it with a brow lift, eyelid lift, or laser skin rejuvenation. procedure, although they may still have some swelling. Most people are back to their usual activities within a week, although you may be instructed to wait before resuming a strenuous exercise routine.
