Preparation Tips for Facelift Surgery
April 20, 2024
Have you already decided you want a facelift but have questions about how to get ready? How you prepare for your facelift surgery can help your procedure go smoothly and make your recovery more comfortable. At the Lanfranchi Center, we will guide you through preparation and assist you through every step so you feel supported and confident.
What is a TLC Lift™ Facelift?
A facelift or rhytidectomy can be performed in several ways. Dr. Lanfranchi’s TLC Lift™ is a type of facelift surgery that targets your biggest areas of concern, including sagging skin around the lower face and neck, drooping jowls, and accumulated fat under the chin. Each TLC Lift™ is a customized procedure, and you can choose to add a range of other procedures to enhance your results.

Preparation Tips for Facelift Surgery
You will receive detailed instructions from Dr. Lanfranchi and his team before your procedure. These instructions will guide you through the specifics, but most people will benefit from these tips.
Medications and Supplements
After reviewing all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and supplements, we might instruct you to stop or adjust some of them. Certain medications can increase the risk of bleeding and bruising. We also have you start Arnica tablets one week prior to your procedure to help prevent bruising.
Smoking and Alcohol
Avoid consuming alcohol for one week before the procedure. You will need to quit smoking several weeks before your facelift surgery. Smoking significantly affects your ability to heal, making quitting an extremely important part of preparation.
Taking Time Off
Even if you tend to bounce back quickly from illness or surgery, take the appropriate amount of time off for your facelift recovery. Trying to rush your recovery could make it harder for you to heal, so get your work time and other duties scheduled well before surgery.

Preparing for Recovery
You should expect to feel some tiredness and soreness during the first few days as your body works on healing. You can make this time much easier by stocking up on easy-to-prepare, nutritious foods, preparing comfortable clothing, and collecting some relaxing activities like a craft or book.
Am I a Good Candidate for a TLC Lift™ Facelift Surgery?
People considering a facelift should be in overall good health and have achievable goals. Good candidates want to address signs of aging around the lower face and neck for a rejuvenated appearance. While there is no “right” age for a facelift, candidates range from their 40s to their 60s, depending on the severity of their loose skin and sagging.
Younger individuals or those who have less noticeable signs of aging may benefit from a TLC Mini Lift. This option is less invasive and has a shorter recovery time. Candidates for a Mini Facelift typically want to reverse early signs of aging and prevent them from progressing.
Stellar Service from Start to Finish
Two months ago I had a lower lifestyle facial lift. I was apprehensive, but it was well worth the effort and expense. Dr. Lanfranchi and his entire staff were kind, caring and very professional, from the first meeting to the follow up appointments.
The procedure is done under a local, not general anesthetic, and it was easy. I healed quickly and am very satisfied with the results. His fee was very reasonable. Any further facial work I want done, I will be sure to come back here.
